Health & Well Being
Healthy employees are an organisational asset. The well-being of employees has a direct influence on productivity, quality and profitability. Providing the opportunity and support for employees to address personal well-being makes business sense. Such an approach can form part of wider organisational strategies to obtain optimum performance and employee satisfaction.
Employee Assistance Programmes (EAPs) primarily operate as a reactive service dealing with a wide range of personal and professional problems. EAPs typically respond to an annual utilisation rate of 5 – 7.5% of the total workforce.
Therefore the majority of the work force (~95%) do not access the service. Reasons may include amongst others:
- Adequate personal coping strategies
- Problems not ‘big enough’ to merit using service
- Reluctance to utilise the service
These reasons do not however suggest that this section of the workforce would not benefit from information/awareness/skills on issues that affect their performance at work.
EAP Consultants have developed a proactive approach to Well-Being at Work which focuses on providing information, to increase awareness and support all employees in taking responsibility for their well-being.
Our approach can include the following elements, but we will work with you to tailor a Programme most suited to your organisation.
- Introducing a succession of themes over a specified time frame
- Delivering information: Fact sheets, Work Sheets, Local Resource Sheets
- Delivering Training programmes designed to develop skills and initiate behavioural change
- Delivering brief ‘Lunch hour’ talks by specialist trainers
- Evaluating the Well Being Programme
