Coaching
Coaching is a process designed to help individuals gain clarity, direction and move towards attaining their goals. Coaching looks at desired outcomes or goals, and identifies obstacles, resistance, habits and values – in other words, why we do what we do, and is it working for us.
Benefits for the organisation
Providing goal-focussed, independent and confidential one-to-one support for individuals can effectively address key issues which may be causing difficulties either just for the individual or within the organisation. It can lead to improved communication, better working relationships and increase in morale, commitment and engagement.
By developing new strategies and skills, coaching works through the following process:
• It increases awareness of our thinking, behaviours and emotions
• This leads to an understanding of them and knowledge of where they are helping us and where they might be hindering us
• It helps us recognise and understand other people’s behaviour and this can improve communication with others and manage relationships
• It helps people take responsibility for their own thoughts and behaviours and see how they can are the only ones who can bring about real and lasting change in their lives
